Musiktheater - 360° Experience
The Linz Musiktheater, located just across from Volksgarten Park, is considered one of Europe’s most modern opera houses. Built according to plans by London architect Terry Pawson, it was officially opened in April 2013 and has since become one of the city’s most popular attractions and cultural highlights.
It offers a dreamlike ambience for operas, operettas, ballets and musicals. Staged in a multimedia environment and accompanied by state-of-the-art technology, its multifaceted programme is truly inspiring.
Another extraordinary experience is the KlangFoyer (‘SoundFoyer’), which offers insights into the history of musical theatre. This unique, multi-sensory experience was developed together with the Ars Electronica Futurelab, and tourists can visit the Musiktheater as a sightseeing experience in its own right even outside of performance times.
